THE PROBLEM OF ACCESSIBILITY AND SAFE DRIVING OF AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY IS A MAJOR OBSTACLE TO BE BROKEN DOWN TO THE ADVANTAGE OF DISABLED OPERATORS

AMADI
Agricultural Machinery Automation for Disabled operators

Recently a legal barrier has been knocked down in Italy thanks to the introduction of a special driving license so that disable people can drive agricultural vehicles. To give a concrete value to this important event it is fundamental to break down some types of barriers more challenging than the previous ones.

During EIMA 2004 (International Exhibition of Agricultural Machinery), in Bologna, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Hon. Gianni Alemanno, has entrusted the ISMA (Experimental Institute for Agricultural Mechanization) to develop the AMADI project. Many institutions and associations have been involved to provide their input to the project, including FISH (Italian Federation for Handicap Overcoming), UNACOMA (National Union of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers) and ENAMA (National Agency for Agricultural Mechanization), reflecting the wide interest and consent to the initiative. Three different projects have been developed on tractors of various sizes and powers, thanks to the participation of UNACOMA and of the three major Italian manufacturers (SDF SAME DEUTZ FAHR, CNH NEW HOLLAND and LANDINI).
